Sweeteners – You’ll notice there are several options for sweeteners. I prefer a simple syrup, which is just equal parts water and sugar boiled together and then cooled. For this particular recipe, I like to toss a handful of mint leaves into the boiling syrup, then strain the syrup before using. The mint provides a subtle depth to an otherwise pretty straightforward flavor profile.

How to Make Watermelon Agua Fresca

I’m using 4 generous cups of cubed watermelon (seeded, if you’re not using a seedless watermelon), water, the juice of a few limes, and simple syrup.
