How to make it?
Chop Mangoes after rinsing them 3-4 times in water. Now add these chopped mangoes to the blender and add sugar. Blend them together till smooth and make mango pulp to be used in making mango lassi. Now to this mango pulp add chilled yogurt/curd, water, cardamom powder, saffron and ice cubes. Blend for 30 seconds to one minute till all the ingredients are mixed evenly and there is a smooth mixture. Mango Lassi is ready. Pour chilled mango lassi into glasses and top with chopped nuts and chopped mangoes.
Substitutions:
Mango: Use frozen mango or canned mango pulp if fresh is unavailable. Curd: Swap with Greek yogurt for a thicker texture or use coconut yogurt for a dairy-free version. Sugar: Replace with honey, maple syrup, or a sugar-free alternative like stevia. Cardamom Powder: Use cinnamon or nutmeg for a different spice flavor. Saffron: Skip it or replace with a pinch of turmeric for color. Ice Cubes: Use chilled milk or water instead to keep the consistency smooth without diluting the flavor.
Variations:
Mint Mango Lassi: Add a few mint leaves for a refreshing twist. Spiced Mango Lassi: Blend in ginger or black pepper for a kick. Coconut Mango Lassi: Use coconut milk or cream for a tropical flavor. Protein Boost: Add a scoop of protein powder or nut butter to make it more filling.
How to serve
Chilled: Serve it cold in a tall glass for a refreshing summer drink. Garnish: Top with chopped mango pieces, saffron strands, or a sprinkle of cardamom for extra flavor. With a Meal: Pair with spicy Indian dishes like curry, biryani, or kebabs to balance the heat. As a Dessert: Enjoy it as a light and fruity dessert after a meal.
Storage
Refrigeration: Store leftover Mango Lassi in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Stir well before serving, as separation may occur. Freezing: You can freeze Mango Lassi in an airtight container or ice cube trays for up to 1 month. Thaw in the refrigerator and stir well before drinking.
