Happy May! Today I’m sharing with you my Greek turkey burgers with tzatziki sauce, which are seriously delish! This burger is packed with flavor but you know I’m keeping it pretty simple. Fuss-free and on the healthy side. Just my style (See also my BBQ turkey burgers, zucchini turkey burgers and cheddar chicken burgers for more burger love.) These Greek turkey burgers though are loaded. They have spinach, red onion and feta cheese mixed into the turkey burger patties. Then they are topped with tzatziki sauce and if you’re like me, ALL kinds of additional fun toppings! See my healthy taco chicken casserole, black-eyed pea burgers, sweet potato toast and southwestern hummus for examples of how much I love toppings! ❤️ So let’s get cooking! Now, I’ve got some notes and tips coming up below on how to make Greek turkey burgers. Just tryin’ to be helpful. If you want to jump on down to the recipe, simply scroll through the rest of the text. The recipe card is near the bottom of the page, above the comments section.
Recipe Notes:
Cooking: I usually make our burgers inside on the stove, but you can also grill these if you want. Ground turkey: I use and prefer a 93% or so lean ground turkey. I’ve made this recipe with 1 pound of ground turkey (4 burgers) and used the same measurements for 1.3 pounds (5 burgers), which is how it’s sometimes sold in my grocery store. It’s fine either way. Spinach: I skipped the spinach for the kids’ burgers the first time I made these for them, so it’s OK to leave that out if you prefer. (Though the next time I made these burgers, I left the spinach in and they still gobbled them up. Score!)
Oh, and I included a quick and easy recipe for tzatziki sauce in the recipe card below, but you can use store-bought if you prefer. (Or skip it in favor of other condiments. But it really helps those Greek flavors shine!) Since I mentioned toppings, I thought I’d share a few ideas.
Topping Ideas:
Lettuce Tomato Sliced red onion or pickled red onions Chopped or halved olives Extra feta cheese Sliced avocado
As for sides, keep it easy with some frozen fries or tater tots or make an orzo salad to go with these burgers. Or check out all of my healthy summer salads for more inspiration. Last thing, let’s talk about what to do with any leftovers. I cook all of the patties just to have them ready to go. Then any leftover patties, once cooled, can be stored in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. The leftover burgers work great broken up in wraps at lunch or to use as a topping for a salad or grain bowl. Wishing you a wonderful week! Enjoy! Tzatziki: This sauce is really easy to make but you could also use a store-bought version if you prefer. Optional toppings: Lettuce, tomato, red onion, feta cheese, olives, avocado, etc. Cooking: I usually make our burgers inside on the stove, but you can also grill these if you want. Leftovers: Leftover cooked burger patties, once cooled, can be stored in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. They work great crumbled into a wrap, or with salads or grain bowls.
