While this flourless chocolate torte is a super decadent and impressive flourless chocolate cake, I like this cake in a jar because it’s so portable and adaptable.

There’s not going to be any shortage of starter recipes or savory, spicy finger foods at any tailgating party, but the few that I’ve been to almost never had any gourmet desserts! 🙂 Uusually, desserts are almost always my responsibility at any potluck party that I go to. So enter, fudgy chocolate cake in a jar! A rich, decadent, gluten-free, flourless chocolate cake, that’s sinfully fudgy in the middle and crackly on top, with a great balance of dense and light textures.

You can easily make these and then store in the fridge until you need them. They are just as portable whether they are unbaked (should be chilled before you transport them), or baked. And just as delicious whether warm or chilled! This fudgy chocolate cake in a jar is incredibly versatile, and IF by any chance, one portion of this fudgy in the center and crisp on the outside cake is too much for one serving for you (seriously, are you even real??), you can screw the top back on and save it for later. If you can recall, I previously did a great wine pairing recipe with my creamy cheesy chicken pies, and loved it. This time, I wanted to try it with a chocolate dessert.
How to make chocolate cake in a jar
This fudgy, flourless chocolate cake is also super easy to make! You can mix everything in one bowl and store the batter in generously buttered 1/2 pint mason jars. The cooking time can range from 15-30 minutes, depending on whether you bake these from room temperature or chilled. The best way to know if it’s done is to take it out of the oven when the cakes have risen and look crisp and crackly on top. The cake will sink a little as it cools down, but the center will still be deliciously fudgy. I even added some toasted pecans that really heightened the texture with their crunch, but that’s optional (although recommended!).
