With monsoon around the corner, most of us start craving something crispy to much with that perfect cup of masala chai or adrak chai. So I am throwing out many ideas some traditional and some of new recipes which have the potential to become your favourite to satiate monsoon cravings of something crisp and chatpata ! Kicking off the series with this Dahi ke Sholay, and Dahi ke Kabab. Before I get started on the recipe, let me tell you about these crispy and golden fried bread pockets of hung yogurt. If you are from any defence force back ground, you know there are some standard items that are served across all armed force messes and if you are not I am telling you know 🙂 So you all know that in Armed forces we have certain traditions, which everyone follows religiously, even the family members of Armed force personnel. Even our Officer’s messes follow certain protocols and so much so that most messes have fixed menu for particular days of the week and on certain celebratory days. In short you know what to expect on certain meal time at a particular day. Other thing that is very peculiar is dishes that are served in Mess parties and certain dishes which you will mostly find in armed force messes. I will talk about them in details some day but today I want to share a recipe which is Dahi ke Sholay. Now a days you get everything everywhere, so I am not sure if this one is also served somewhere, but till few years ago this used to be a hot favorite in mess party and not only in IAF but all three forces including Army and Navy too. And this one despite it’s being deep fried was one of my favorite too, so even after leaving IAF the dahi ke sholay still finds some place in my party menu and even once or twice in monsoon. The difference only is now I make them air fried in my microwave which has got slim fry function.     In the video recipe I have demonstrated two ways {deep fried and pan fried } but you can follow my text recipe if you like to air fry. Dahi Ke Sholay Video Recipe The taste of deep fried dahi ke sholay and air fried dahi ke sholay is almost similar except air fired ones taste less oily but pan fried ones differ in crispness as these are little less crispy, but tasty these are.
