Recently, I’ve been using my Air Fryer on repeat. It’s so versatile! (Also, currently, my oven is broken and won’t be fixed for at least a couple of weeks. ) I’ve shared Air Fryer pork chops and Air Fryer Brussels sprouts, which get so perfectly browned and crispy! As do these Air Fryer sweet potato fries. Mmmm! And I have so many more recipes planned! Today, it’s another go-to favorite around here: Air Fryer baked potato. Cooking potatoes this way cuts down on time, versus an oven method, and they come out perfect! They are fluffy and tender on the inside and get an incredibly crispy, salty crust all the way around the potato. For someone like me who eats the entire thing, skin and all, these are hard to beat!

Plus, they are completely hands off. Just prep the potatoes, start the Air Fryer and walk away. They will be done and waiting for you, so you can focus on the rest of dinner and not worry about checking the clock. Now, I’ve got some notes and substitutions coming up on how to make Air Fryer baked potatoes. Just tryin’ to be helpful. Notes on making Air Fryer baked potatoes:

Pay attention to size when you’re buying potatoes so they will fit your Air Fryer. You can fit up to 3 small to medium sized russet potatoes in most Air Fryers. But you can certainly adjust to just cook one or two. They will take 40 minutes total to cook. I sometimes flip the potatoes over at 25 minutes, but sometimes don’t, so that’s an optional step. The air flow will ensure the entire potato gets cooked and crispy. I use extra-virgin olive oil, but you could substitute canola oil or peanut oil to coat the potatoes if you prefer.

Also, my Air Fryer doesn’t have or require a pre-heat, but I included a note in the recipe card below in case yours does.

How long do Air Fryer baked potatoes take to cook?

  • You can cook 3 small to medium russet potatoes in an Air Fryer at a time. They will take 40 minutes at 400 degrees to cook.
  • If you have larger or especially fat potatoes, you can add 5 minutes for a total of 45 minutes to cook. So, you can see that this is a little bit faster than oven baked potatoes, which typically take about an hour. However, you are limited by space, so it won’t work well if you need to cook 4 or more potatoes at a time. If you’re doing 3 or less though, it’s perfect and you don’t have to heat up the oven! It’s also not nearly as fast as my microwave baked potatoes, which take 10 to 15 minutes and come out so fluffy and tender. But that crispy, salty skin on an Air Fryer baked potato is totally worth it!

By the way, this is the Air Fryer I have, and I have loved it! It’s so easy to use, and to clean up too! OK, let’s get ready to serve these up.

Topping ideas for baked potatoes:

Butter, sour cream or Greek yogurt Shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled blue cheese, or feta or goat cheese Crumbled cooked bacon Chopped chives or fresh herbs Guacamole or diced avocado Salsa or pico de gallo Hot sauce or sriracha Sprinkle of paprika or other seasonings

The sky is the limit, so go with your favorites! I hope you give these a try next time you’re making baked potatoes for dinner. Enjoy! XO, Kathryn P.S.
